“The Book and the Child”, theme of Children’s Week from November 18 to 23, 2024 throughout the department

Thursday November 7, 2024, Coralie Dénoues, president of the Deux-Sèvres departmental council, Béatrice Largeau, vice-president in charge of solidarity, social cohesion and child protection, and Philippe Chauveau, departmental advisor in charge of culture and reading, presented Children's Week whose theme is “The Book and the Child” which will take place throughout the department from November 18 to 23.

Some 39 free events open to all will take place in collaboration with the departmental media library, the medico-social branches, the Departmental Solidarity Center, the Department of Education, the Brin de Lecture bookstore in Thouars and La Librairie des Halles in , as well as the department's media libraries and participating colleges.

Free appointments at libraries and colleges

From November 18 to 23, Children's Week will take over libraries and colleges across the country. Families have 39 appointments throughout this week.

On the program: 10 shows in partnership with libraries for reception, two meetings at the medico-social branches of Niort and Saint-Maixent-l'École for an activity on language and a baby readers session, four meeting workshops led by author-illustrators…

Literature comes to the table, cooking recipes concocted by school chefs taken from a novel, a play or a thriller will be enjoyed at the Molière colleges in Loretz-d'Argenton, Émile-Zola in Prahecq, Jacques-Prévert in Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre and Louis-Merle in Secondigny.

Philippe Chauveau, departmental advisor in charge of reading and reading, concludes: “A child who reads is also quite simply a child who has fun and questions the world. »
