[Analyse] I'd Just as Soon Kiss a Wookiee • News Guides & beautiful books • Star Wars Universe

Not much is known about this book.
Except that the theme addressed is “relations between races and genders in Star Wars” and what this shows about society in the USA.

The only approach sentence we have is the following: How the Star Wars trilogies and their fandoms engaged with and reflected American beliefs about race and gender.
With the summary (below), we suspect that we are dealing with a chronological study of the theme and which will show an evolution (or not) of the acceptance of differences.

Some titles are enigmatic like chapter 5 with its “don't ask the Prequels how babies are made”.
Perhaps this is a chapter based on the question of Anakin's birth. I don't know.
Other titles are a little more revealing like chapter 4 and its “Princess Leia, Lando and the imagination of the Fans” which will go towards what if, there had been a relationship between Leia and Lando.
Well I guess.

Summary :
– Chapter 1. The History of On-Screen Science Fiction Interracial Intimacy (1902–1987)
– Chapter 2. What Are You, Darth Vader? (1977–1980)
– Chapter 3. Early Fanship, the Invisible Jetpack, and Black Fans (1977–1982)
– Chapter 4. Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and Fan Imaginations (1977–1983)
– Chapter 5. Don’t Ask the Prequels Where Babies Come From (1999–2005)
– Chapter 6. Four Ships Sailed. Which Would Land? (2012–2016)
– Chapter 7. Social Media, Fans, and Interracial Relationships (2015–2020)

And of course, a parallel is made with American society and its views on interracial and gender relations.

It is scheduled for June 3, 2024 at a price of approximately €34.

Wookieely yours.
