Every year, the first weekend in October is devoted to the Lempzours book fair, which this year will be held from October 5 to 6.

Sf this event is organized by the Lempzours book fair association, it owes a lot to the personality of the president who is also the mayor of the village, Thérèse Chassain. And it is a rich program offered by the president and her team.

This year’s general theme will be “Builders of yesterday and today: from big principles to small gestures”. The first day will be punctuated by many highlights. After the opening of the show scheduled for 2 p.m., Noëlle Duvernois will give a conference on Ludovic Gaillard, born in Sorges, in 1838, to parents who were papermakers and a builder in Perigord. In 1851 he left to study at the new high school in Périgueux. At the age of 15, he joined the Ponts-et-Chaussée de la Dordogne as assistant to the works manager. Mastering the new tools, he was entrusted with drilling the Thiviers tunnel, the first on a slope and curve, which earned him the recognition of the profession. He will then work all over the world.

Thanks to his considerable income, he invested and transformed paper mills into modern paper mills: La Brugère, famous for having supplied the laid paper for the first edition of Montaigne’s “Essais” in 1580, les Castilloux, both near Thiviers, and Blanzat in Auvergne. He founded a retirement fund for his employees, developed workers’ homes, schools and cooperatives.

At 3 p.m., Laurent Mayet will give a conference on his book “La Banquise”. Physicist, philosopher, Laurent Mayet is the founding president of the association Le Cercle Polaire, which works to understand and protect the polar regions. He is currently deputy ambassador for the oceans. Previously special representative of Foreign Affairs for polar issues (2016-2017), he was also advisor to Michel Rocard, ambassador for the poles from 2009 to 2016.

At 4 p.m., the floor will be given to Colonel Raphaël Nal, former leader of the French patrol. Entering service in the Air Force in 1997, Raphaël Nal is a fighter pilot on Mirage F1 before joining the Patrouille de in 2012. Currently stationed at the General Staff, Colonel Nal uses his skills acquired in recent years by favoring human-centered processes of innovation and creativity and an empathetic approach.

At 5 p.m., a debate moderated by Patrick Spinoza will take place alongside Laurent Mayet and Benoit Kanabus. Finally, at 6 p.m., there will be an inauguration with officials, the event and presentation of the “Tchin, Tchin” literary prize, the recipient of which is not yet known.

Sunday at 11 a.m., Jérôme Bucy will give a guided tour of the Templar church. Familiar with Lempzours, Jérôme is the author of five detective novels, the last two of which, “The Amber Room” and “The Colony of Darkness”, were published by Éditions Belfond.

There will, of course, be authors who will come to present their various works. This year, there will be no less than 24 from everywhere.
