Batman receives Hollywood Walk of Fame star and Guinness World Records title!

On Thursday, September 26, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Batman with the 2,790th star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. Batman’s story of determination and courage has inspired generations around the world. He is vengeance. He is the night. He is Batman.

Known not for his superpowers, but for his intelligence, skill, and technical know-how, Batman is one of the world’s most iconic characters. He’s been beloved around the world through comic books, television shows, animated features, movies, and more since his first appearance in 1939’s Detective Comics #27. Batman is the first superhero character to be honored with the a star on the Hollywood Walk of FameBatman’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be dedicated alongside that of television’s Batman, Adam West, and Batman co-creator Bob Kane.

DC Chairman, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee and DC Senior Vice President and General Manager Anne DePies will attend the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony on Thursday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. local time at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Guinness World Records when Batman, in character costume, will receive his star in the motion picture category.

In conjunction with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Batman will be honored with the Guinness World Records title of first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, during a special presentation by GWR official adjudicator Michael Empric. Other notable Guinness World Records titles include Detective Comics as the longest-running comic book (continuously published since 1938) and, in 2012, Batman as the most adapted comic book character (live-action film), from the 1966 Batman feature film to The Dark Knight Rises. Guinness World Records also recognizes Batman as the character with the most Academy Awards for portraying a superhero (George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck), the most adapted superhero film into a video game, and more.

In collaboration with Funko, a fan event will take place all day on September 26, in conjunction with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, at Funko Hollywood (6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028). Jim Lee will participate in an exclusive one-hour meet and greet and autograph session for Batman fans at Funko Hollywood from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Attendance at this exclusive autograph session will be limited to fans who have received a wristband.

Wristbands will be distributed to the first 100 fans who purchase Batman merchandise at Funko Hollywood on Tuesday, September 24, two days prior to the event. No outside merchandise is permitted. One wristband per person. Wristbands are available on a first-come, first-served basis. On the day of the autograph signing, fans can begin lining up at 9 a.m.

Warner Bros. Archives will also host a pop-up museum of costumes and props from Batman’s history in film and television at Funko Hollywood. Authentic props, iconic costumes and a few surprises will give audiences a rare chance to experience elements of Batman’s cinematic history up close and personal.

Created for DC Comics by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman and his story have become one of the greatest American myths. Batman is the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, and the world’s greatest detective. It symbolizes justice, strength and fearlessness. for generations of fans for 85 years and counting. Batman’s legendary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame goes down in history as another first for the character and for DC.
