Niort watercolourist Emmanuel Denis-Touron signs his new book on Poitiers

The rigorous line gives pride of place to details while getting to the essential, the colors of the watercolor sometimes restore the morning frost, sometimes the overwhelming light of a summer afternoon: the touch of Emmanuel Denis-Touron, discovered three years ago in his first book, “Niort, lignes claires”, is found in his new work, “Poitiers, retour à la ligne”, which has just been published by Geste Éditions.

Based in Niort, where he is a journalist at NR, the watercolourist became interested in Poitiers. “It’s my hometown, I discovered it with a different eye: I had places in mind that I wanted to paint, but I was also surprised. The relief gives a large number of remarkable viewpoints, like from the Dunes plateau. I also loved painting narrow streets.”.

Three years of work and, in the end, more than 150 paintings, mainly watercolours, but also drawings, walnut stain paintings and backlit Indian ink, which offer a unique view of the city of Poitiers.

Book signing at the Halles bookstore on Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Exhibition of works at the Maison de l’architecture, in Poitiers, on September 21 and 22 (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
