Saturday January 18, 2025, at the end of the morning, the babies born in 2024 in Valdallière, in Calvados, each received a book offered by the CCAS (communal social action center) and the Vassy media library.

Books offered to infants

Of the 45 children concerned (27 girls and 18 boys), they were 16 present to this book delivery for the operation “ A baby = a book ».

This is the Pop-up book called In the little house, by Marie-France Painset, chosen by Laurine Miraglièse, head of the Valdallière media library network, and Sylvie Asselin, vice-president of the CCAS. This will also be Sylvie Asselin’s last participation in this event, as she is in her last year at CCAS.

This book was not chosen at random.

To choose, we monitor daily what appears. In addition, this author will be one of the guests of the study day on babies in Caen in March; a project led by the Calvados library.

Also present at the delivery were Christiane Roger, member of the CCAS, Virginie Becquart, facilitator of the Relais Petite Enfance, and Marion Langevin from the PMI, childcare worker from the Vire district.

This event also allows a first contact with the world of early childhood. As Laurine Miraglièse says, “we are very committed to to best accommodate toddlers ».

Activities and entertainment for toddlers

Sonia Pinel, facilitator in the Valdallière media library network, distributed the books to the little ones, who were all as good as a picture. Laurine Miraglièse invited everyone to visit the media library and explained how it works.

A games corner is intended for them, as well as numerous books on the first floor. We regularly offer activities: let’s play little patapons, the first Thursday of the month, reading activities, and nursery rhymes. Every school holiday, we also offer a show for toddlers.

The children took possession of their books by starting to discover them with their parents, and some started to get to know each other on the play mat.

Pastries and drinks were offered to close this moment convivial where no cry or cry was heard. It seems as if they have already understood the habits of a media library.
