LITERATURE. Sutton resident Linda Mia Stall has launched her first ever work, a children’s book titled The Bears of Blueberry Hill. This picture book follows many of the stories she has told her children over the years.
“This book is perhaps a little simple since it is a bit of an introduction, in order to know the family of bears which is at the heart of the story and the environment,” indicates Ms. Stall. It’s the end of winter. Bears are coming out of winter. »
The story, which follows the journey of two young bear cubs, Blue and Berry, is interspersed with photos taken by the author in the region, paintings and illustrations.
“I had the freedom to include several mediums in the book and I wanted to show young people that they could do what they want to do,” she explains. There are rules in life, you have to know them, but also when you can play with them. »
The local side is very important to Ms. Stall. Moreover, the title of the book recalls a sector of the region.
“One of my neighbors in West Brome told me about a place higher up on the road where I live called Blueberry Hill,” she says. Quebec is rich in blueberries. I’ve always loved blueberries, which are small, ancient fruits that grow in wild places and extreme conditions. »
The book is only available in English at the moment and is aimed at slightly younger children, from 3 to 6 years old according to Ms. Stall.
“One day, I would like to translate it into French,” says the author. Initially, I wanted to do it in the same book, but I found that it complicated things and that the pages would be crammed with writing, it was too much. »
The book is on sale on different platforms, among others, on Amazon or on Indigo.
