Muzette, a book bistro which has just opened in Huy

Juliette and Anthony created Muzette, a place of sharing and relaxation dedicated to reading second-hand in Huy.

Near the Grand-Place of Huy, a new atypical place welcomes lovers of books and conviviality: Muzette (Rue Griange, 17). This is a book bistro where you can delve into 3,000 second-hand books while tasting local products. Founded by Justine Montagner and Anthony Rey, this family project brings together a love of books, a taste for sharing and ecological values.

The couple, well known in the cultural sector, imagined this place by instilling their values of sustainability and conviviality. Justine, passionate about reading, takes care of the literary selection while Anthony brings his experience in sustainable eating, whether to choose snacks or books. Their son Odin, a young reading enthusiast, also contributes to the family atmosphere of the place.

Un concept original

Muzette offers a hybrid formula: café, second-hand bookstore and place to relax. Here, visitors can sit down to browse books, enjoy a drink, and even nibble a small snack. The works are varied, ranging from children’s literature to poetry and Belgian authors, with affordable prices to make reading accessible to all.

This book bistro also encourages meetings and exchanges. The space is designed to be welcoming and cozy, with a reading corner and a recessed terrace. Books available in libraries are offered at attractive prices: €3.50 for a paperback book. Visitors can also borrow a book, read it on site with a drink and put it down without purchasing.

The eco-responsible aspect is essential for founders. All books are second hand, acquired at flea markets or through donations. In the future, Muzette even plans to buy books from individuals to enrich its shelves. As for drinks and snacks, the products are local.

A place to share

In short, Muzette’s idea is to promote the pleasure of reading, to encourage social connections and to promote second-hand goods. In addition, Muzette also offers spaces for children, poetry lovers and puzzle fans.

Muzette is open Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
