Luzech. When light and agree

Luzech. When light and agree
Luzech. When light and books agree

Since the beginning of November, on the Quai Pélissié in Luzech, two significantly linked worlds have poetically mixed together between wood and paper.

At the heart of the “Mélafabrique” artisanal workshop-boutique, Marion’s were naturally invited to enhance the unique lighting fixtures that Mélanie makes, some of which are real book holders. The works placed here and there tell as many beautiful stories as those anchored in the pieces of wood carefully chosen by Mélanie in each of her creations. “I work with Quercy wood species, allowing as much as possible the vagaries of the grain to express themselves and give their singularity.” At the back of the shop in her workshop, Mélanie shapes her lamp bases or boards herself, letting the wood tell its story between knots and veins. Lovely stories that we find with Marion and her bookstore “Le Poisson Perché”. “We wanted to join forces to highlight each object and bring them to life.” Passionate about art, Marion brings back to life the books she particularly likes. She likes to select real little reading treasures, second-hand books but also some nuggets that visitors can find in new copies. An anthology of illustrations then overflows from the pages, which in turn are printed on a completely different medium. Mélanie makes her lampshades with Japanese artisanal papers, allowing soft light to spread through bright colors. Sometimes she lets her imagination cover the surface of her lampshades from linocuts. Lamps but also chandeliers and wall lights complete this range of light. The boutique, transformed into a warm cocoon, is dotted with screen prints and ceramics which gently embellish the decor. A collaboration to discover without further delay!
