” I am Charles LairbauI look handsome, right? “. From the start, he sets the frame, with a smile on his lips. Originally from Torcy (Seine-et-Marne), the author of the book The Flowers of Evil 2 – A parody has an easy laugh, and he lets it be known.
With his first book, released during the month ofOctober 2024he parodies the best-known French songs, with the sole aim of “making people laugh”.
“Make people laugh”
When we know the profession of Charles Lairbau, who works in the public servicewe can't imagine the gay guy he is. Poet for thirty years, he started writing song parodiespoems or fables by La Fontaine, seven or eight years ago. His motivation? “ Make people laugh in a very sad time,” he says.
Seeing the success of his works, particularly during the opening rounds, he decided, four years ago, to write several of them.
Originally titled Parodic anthology of French song“a title that did not speak”, the work finally takes shape around a central character: the poet Charles Baudelaire, himself parodied throughout the pages. “I parody twelve of his poems, and The flowers of evil : we have a part Web and idealothers called Spleen…”, he emphasizes.
In his texts, everyone gets their due, from former President of the United States Donald Trump to ministers and National Education teachers.
A little over a year ago, he finally decided to publish his collection, which, according to him, amuses the publishers and the reader panels.
Parodying, a difficult art to practice
Parodying is much more complicated than you think. “I only take artists that I like: so we end up with Angèle, Kendji Girac, Francis Cabrel, Indochine, or even Trust,” he lists, without being exhaustive.
