The opening of the exhibition So our paths by the artist Claire Illouz took place at the La Sabline media library, in Lussac-les-Châteaux, Thursday October 10, 2024, in the presence, among others, of François Rosfelter, head of the departmental library, of François Bock, departmental advisor, and Jean-Luc Madej, mayor of the commune.

Claire Illouz is a designer, engraver, painter and watercolorist, and lives in Val-d’Oise. His works reflect a living nature, which we encounter on a daily basis. In addition to her numerous paintings, exhibited until December 14 in the La Sabline center, she also produces artists’ books.

The Vienne departmental library has acquired a certain number of artists’ books that it wishes to make known to the public, hence the initiative for this exhibition.

Workshops in November

An artist’s book is a work of art that brings together an author and a visual artist. Claire Illouz produced some from texts or poems. She uses different materials, such as silk or linen, depending on the content of the text. To illustrate Ronsard’s poem which recounts her insomnia, she used linen, the material of the sheets of the time. “ I’m looking for papers that match the texts. All technical choices are possible, it just has to make sense in the layout. The artist’s book is an interpretation of a work. If I hadn’t done engraving and drawing I would never have produced an artist’s book. »

Claire Illouz will lead two workshops on creating an artist’s book in November at the media library. The one on Friday, November 15 will be open to children and the one on Saturday, the 16th will be open to the general public.

“Thus our paths” is visible from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free and free entry.
Workshops by reservation at 05.49.83.39.81 or [email protected]
