The 2024 Audiolib Prize for “The Last Match” by Marie Vareille

The novel The last match of Marie Vareillepublished by Charleston editions, wins the Audiolib 2024 prize thanks to readings by Caroline Tillette et Renaud Bertin-Cordoliani. Created in 2013, the Audiolib prize rewards the best audiobook from Audiolib editions of the year, it is decided by a final vote of the public.

In The last matchAbigaëlle has lived as a recluse in a convent in Burgundy for more than twenty years. Amnesiac from her past life, she observes the successful life of her big brother Gabriel as a Parisian artist. Abigaëlle is worried about her new companion Zoé, because only she knows her brother.

Marie Vareille is the author of several bookstore successes, notably Disenchanted (Lamartine bookstore readers’ prize 2023) and The Dream Life of Orphan Socks (Booksellers’ Little Words Prize 2021).

Between cinema, theater and radio

As for the actors, Caroline Tillette trained at Cours Florent, then at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic (LAMDA). She plays in the cinema in Gainsbourg, heroic lifeof Joanne Sfar, In search of lost timeet The King’s Generalof Nina Companeez.

Renaud Bertin-Cordoliani takes the stage for adaptations of Dostoyevskythen dance companies and reading-performances. He records numerous audio books and lends his voice to radio programs for Culture.

This trio succeeds the 2023 winners of While the coffee is still hotof Toshikazu Kawaguchiread by Philippe Spiteri and translated by Miyako Slocombe.
