The official presentation of book written as part of a writing workshop at Escall in Neufchâtel-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime) officially took place a few days ago.

12 apprentice writers

Entitled “However, we didn’t bubble”, this book is the work of collective work organized by the municipal social center, the Jacques Prévert media library and the Mutualité Française Normandie.

During 15 sessions, 12 apprentice writers met on Friday morning with the biographer writer Odile Glineldomiciled in Saint-Nicolas-d’Aliermont.

All their texts have been collated into a book, illustrated by the graphic designer Zacharie Pacey and presented in front of families and elected officials.

Group motivation

At the start of each session, Odile proposed a writing topic and the seniors over 60 used their memory or imagination. “The interest was to write differently with group motivation. Everyone listened to the other enthusiastically.”

Moreover, each participant today will read a text, but not necessarily their own. We had an intergenerational workshop with Camille, a 10-year-old granddaughter who came with her grandmother.

The memoirs of an elected official

Before the dedication of their book, published only for the participants and their families, Philippe Ginaire, representing the French mutualitystressed “that the quality of life of those over 60 is our priority”.

Xavier Lefrançois, mayor, remarked: “25 years ago, I led writing and reading workshops. It’s a place of conviviality and I can’t wait to discover this signed book. You are at the media library, in an exceptional place, with exceptional people. For my part, I am preparing a book on the memories of an elected official, because there is something to say.”
