This year, as you have understood, all the events revolve around the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Charleville-Mézières Book and Booksellers Festival is no exception to this tradition.

Organized on Saturday May 11, 2024, by Charlevil’lecture on Place Ducale, the event will highlight sport with the key word: “ Read, move! »

The traditional booksellers’ fair will open at 9 a.m.

The day will begin at 9 a.m. with the traditional booksellers’ salon, Place Ducale, until 6 p.m. This year, ten authors, three publishing houses, eight associations dedicated to books, two Carolomacerian bookstores and four second-hand booksellers will be present.

In the same spirit, activities will be offered in different reading places in the city, such as the Rimbaud bookstore, the Plume et Bulle café-bookstore or the A Livre Ouvert bookstore.

Moreover, from 11 a.m., the Voyelles media library will host the show “A sports reading!” » from the Perluette association, accessible to children aged 5 and over. What will it look like? The association will bring to life youth albums on the theme of sport, with music and sound effects. Please note, places are limited, you must register by calling 03 24 26 94 40.

Writing and drawing workshops, meetings with authors…

The day will continue at Place Ducale where numerous free activities open to all will be offered from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. such as writing and drawing workshops, role-playing games, or even meetings with children’s authors like Myriam Bendhif-Syllas and Zemanel.

It will also be possible to observe three exhibitions from the leisure school, always focused on sport: “Rotten dog at the Olympics”, “1,2,3 read”, and “Do you know the Olympics? “.

Please note that throughout the day, the Book and Booksellers Festival will be accompanied by musical entertainment with the strolling of a barrel organ and the fanfare of the Tire-Laine company between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
