Hanoi (VNA) – The 9th Hanoi Book Fair takes place from September 27 to 29 in the pedestrian zone of Hoàn Kiêm Lake, Hoàn Kiêm district under the theme “Hanoi: Cultural and Heroic Capital – City for Peace”.
The opening ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 27. The event is part of activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2024) and the 35th anniversary of Hanoi receiving the title of “City for Peace” from UNESCO.
The fair is expected to host 200 to 250 booths from domestic and international publishers, diplomatic agencies in Hanoi and representative offices of regional and international publishing associations.
The highlight of this year’s Book Fair is the book exhibition with many good books about Hanoi, ranging from history and culture to works written about the people and traditions of the capital.
This year, the organizing committee also launched a book donation program for schools in the suburbs of Hanoi, which have just been affected by Typhoon Yagi.
Launched in 2014, this annual event aims to promote the culture of reading, encourage reading habits and stimulate community reading movements to build a learning society.
At the fair, with the aim of helping to attract readers to books, improve reading culture and attract young readers, publishing units also presented many new books, as well as promotional programs, book discounts and reader gifts. – VNA
