Anderlecht’s management is busy finding a new coach. The room for maneuver is quite small given the latest choices made.
Who will ensure the succession of Brian Riemer in Anderlecht? Several names are mentioned, the game of predictions is going well. Philippe Albert lent himself to the exercise for La Capitale. The consultant points out two profiles in priority.
The first is none other than Mark van Bommel, who is regularly mentioned: “He is also my number one option, because he knows the championship very well and has already proven himself at Antwerp” explains Albert.
The former Anderlecht player justifies himself by the fact that the Dutch coach performed beyond expectations by winning the double in his first season at Bosuil, believing that the current core of Anderlecht contains more quality than that which Van Bommel had at Antwerp.
A coach experienced in Pro League matches?
The second candidate put forward is Hein Vanhaezebrouck: “He is available on the market and he will help the team make the necessary progress.” The former Gent coach led Anderlecht between October 2017 and November 2018. Arriving in the middle of the transition period between the old and new management, he had been weakened by the structural changes at the club.
Philippe Albert limits himself to these two coaches, not seeing the point in bringing back Karel Geraerts at the moment: “He has just been fired by Schalke, I don’t think it’s the ideal time to start working again immediately.”
