Director Laurent Tirard has died at the age of 57

Director Laurent Tirard, revealed with the comedy Lies and betrayals and more if there is a connection…died Thursday, September 5 in Paris, at the age of 57, his agent announced to Agence France-Presse. “He left us (…) after having led, with immense courage, a long fight against the disease”his agent said.

Born in Roubaix (Nord), Laurent Tirard grew up in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne). He trained in cinema in the United States, at New York University. He left for Hollywood, where he was a script reader at Warner, then a journalist for Studio Magazinebefore becoming a screenwriter for television and then for cinema.

In 2004, his first film, Lies and betrayals and more if there is a connection…brings together Edouard Baer and Clovis Cornillac, who wins the César for best supporting role. He will then excel in adaptations: Little Nicolas (2009), his greatest success, with more than 5 million admissions in France, then Little Nicolas’s Holidays (2014), based on the novels by René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé, Asterix and Obelix: In the Service of Her Majesty (2012), or again The Speech (2020), based on a novel by Fabrice Caro.
