Piet Vandendriessche is under fire at the association. There was an exceptional board meeting at the KBVB today and it became clear that the position of the CEO is very unstable. It cannot be ruled out that it will still come to an exit.

It is clear that the storm at the football association has not yet subsided. In recent days it has become clear that the board of directors is not satisfied with CEO Piet Vandendriessche – among other things, the too long delayed evaluation of national coach Domenico Tedesco after the disappointing European Championship in Germany is being blamed on him.

After a board meeting on Monday, Vandendriessche seemed to be able to stay on, but on Tuesday, an extraordinary meeting was held in the greatest secrecy, at which the position of CEO was again put on the . There is a chance that his position will be voted on on Wednesday or Thursday.

A departure of Vandendriessche could open the door for Vincent Mannaert. The former CEO of Club Brugge had talks with Vandendriessche in recent months about a job as technical director at the association, but eventually withdrew because he could not agree with the structure that was proposed to him.

However, it is rumoured in the corridors that Mannaert, provided the right agreements, is still open to a job in Tubize. If Vandendriessche were to (have to) leave, a job would immediately become available that is even more interesting than that of technical director.
