Neuville makes the break, Tänak doubles Ogier

Faced with a Sébastien Ogier who invited himself to the table of title contenders, Thierry Neuville held his ground throughout the Acropolis Rally. So much so that the man who was then his main rival made a mistake in the Power Stage and almost lost everything, before still managing to reach the finish and save the 13 points acquired at the end of the first two days.

Nevertheless, Neuville has made a good accounting decision by increasing his lead at the top of the championship, where he has gone from 27 points before the Greek meeting to 34 over his teammate Ott Tänak, now the new runner-up. Third, Ogier is now 38 points behind, which complicates his task with three rallies still to go.

After a weekend where they jeopardized their chances on the first day, Elfyn Evans and Adrien Fourmaux see the top three slipping further away. Among the constructors, it is Hyundai who leads the dance after its remarkable hat-trick, with a 20-point lead over Toyota.

The 2024 scale

As a reminder, the perfect score is always 30 points.

  • The top 10 on Saturday evening received in order 18-15-13-10-8-6-4-3-2 and 1 points.
  • However, there is one condition for scoring points on Saturday: finishing the rally on Sunday.
  • The top 7 on Sunday alone is rewarded with 7-6-5-4-3-2 and 1 point.
  • The Power Stage alone still awards 5-4-3-2 and 1 point for the five fastest during this final special.
  • Each manufacturer records the points of its two best designated representatives each day.
