Called up for the very first time with their respective national teams, Tiago Santos and Angel Gomes are living a waking dream, in their own bubble, far from LOSC and the Dogues.

From September 2 to 12, a dozen Lille players temporarily leave the Domaine de Luchin to defend their nation’s flag. For their part, the Dogues take advantage of quieter weeks to indulge in sometimes more fun activities, such as padel. Miles away from this racket sport, Tiago Santos and Angel Gomes experience special first moments. The two men discover a new world, called up for the national team for the first time.

“A dream comes trueenthused the Portuguese, learning the news at the LOSC training center. It’s something I wanted to achieve and I’m so happy and honored. I don’t know what number I’m going to wear yet. 07? No, I can’t (laughs). Playing with my idol is amazing.”he confided with a certain emotion. Since then, even if the Portuguese federation remains timid in terms of content on its social networks, the Lille full-back has become acquainted with an experienced group, starting with Joao Félix, and is taking his first steps in a locker room as much as on the training pitches. On the brief formats published, we see him, for the moment, remaining very reserved.

Tiago Santos is not the only one making his debut for the national team. Angel Gomes is doing the same across the Channel: “A childhood dream for me to be able to represent my country! So honored and humbled for this opportunity, I can’t wait to meet the team and staff again for the next matches!”launched the Briton. The latter was more expressive, taking advantage of the fact that he was not the only one discovering this new environment to adapt. Indeed, defender Tino Livramento (Newcastle), attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) and winger Noni Madueke (Chelsea) are also making their debut with the Tree Lions, a good boost for the LOSC midfield.
