‘And God… created woman’ or the birth of the Brigitte Bardot myth, to be discovered in Classic Ciné

To celebrate the 90th birthday of the legend Brigitte Bardot, Hugues Dayez and Rudy Léonet invite you to immerse yourself in the cult film by Roger Vadim which revealed the star in 1956. And Godcreated womanthe work that transformed BB into a myth, can be discovered this Wednesday, September 4 at 8:40 p.m. on La Trois.

In Saint-Tropez, a young orphan, Juliette, evolves among three men who covet her: Michel, who works with his family on a careening; his brother Antoine, more adventurous; and a fifty-year-old foreigner, Carradine, promoter and nightclub manager who wants to build a casino on the beach.

First feature film by Roger Vadim, who already worked in the film industry, And God… created woman is a “factory of icons, of legends”. Brigitte Bardot takes on a revolutionary role for the time, a young woman who takes her destiny in hand and assumes her sexuality which she uses on screen. The figure of this free woman who wants to live her pleasure is totally new in French cinema. Opposite her, we find men from different generations: Curd Jürgens, who embodies the “old handsome”, and Jean-Louis Trintignant, at the very beginning of his career.

Brigitte Bardot’s sensuality shines through the film and obviously causes a scandal at the time. It is indeed one of the first films in France to make the link between female nudity and sexuality or desire. Some nude scenes will even be censored. The Brigitte Bardot legend is on the march, she instantly becomes an international star, a global sex symbol and the media frenzy seizes hold of her. Born on September 28, 1934 in Paris, the actress celebrates her 90th birthday this year.
