ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – The evening remains dry across South Georgia with temperatures falling into the low to mid-70s. A few clouds will be in the area leading to partly cloudy skies.

Labor Day features a weak frontal boundary to our north and a tropical wave to our south which will help lead to increased rain chances for the first week of September. This will lead to an increase in moisture for the rest of the week. Your holiday will be mostly dry, but isolated showers cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will climb toward the mid-90s and feel like the triple digits.

Showers and storms will increase a bit more as a cold front slides in by Tuesday. Highs will drop slightly into the low 90s due to the excessive cloud cover. This front will stall out for the rest of the week leading to a chance for showers and storms each day this week. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90s due to the extra clouds and rainfall and lows in the 70s.

Tropical Update: The Atlantic basic features three areas of interest. One is just off the NW Gulf coast impacting Texas to Mississippi with persistent rain. This system has low development at 10%, but it’ll likely be a major rain producer with little movement through next week. The other two are in the Atlantic with the first disturbance moving west into the Caribbean over the next few days. This system has a 40% probability of development in the next 7 days. The last system is closer to Africa and only has a 20% chance of development in the next 7 days.
