Tatyana Lebrun signed a superb bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Saturday in the 200m individual medley event (S10 class). The swimmer from Saint-Vith finished the race in 4th position but took advantage of the disqualification of the Dutchwoman Lisa Kruger to get on the box.
Lebrun finished the race in 2:32.79 and finished behind the Chinese. Meng Zhang and the Hungarian Bianka Pap.
It thus offers Belgium a fifteenth medal during these Parisian Games and allows our country to equal its medal record which dated from Tokyo 2021.
On Friday, August 30, Tatyana Lebrun ranked 5th in the 100m breaststroke. She then competed in the 100m butterfly, without ambition and “for fun“, and finished last in the heats on Tuesday. Lebrun is experiencing his second Paralympic Games, after competing in the 100m butterfly (11th) at the Tokyo Games three years ago.
The S10 category is reserved for athletes with mild weakness in the legs, or restricted movement in the pelvis, or impairment of both feet, or mild impairment of part of a limb. Tatyana Lebrun was born with Larsen Syndrome, a genetic disease that affects the bones and joints.
