For the new year, Avignon-Le Pontet and Sorgues would certainly have done without this bad news. This Friday, the French basketball federation (FFBB), through its management control commission, sanctioned several national championship clubs, including the two major battalions of Vaucluse.
Concerning Avignon-Le Pontet, for “exceeding the management of personnel costs for the 2023-2024 season”, “non-compliance with the validated budget for the 2023-2024 season” et “non-compliance with the obligation to constitute the reserve fund for the 2023-2024 season”, the commission decided to remove 2 points from the rankings of phases 1 and 2, a fine of 2,000 euros and a ban on recruitment for “exceeding the framework for 2023-2024 personnel costs”, “non-compliance with the validated 2023-2024 budget”, “non-compliance with the reserve fund obligation for the 2023-2024 season” et “production of documents that are incomplete, or unreliable, or do not present the reality of the club’s financial situation”.
Demotion as a precautionary measure in the Regional League championship for Sorgues
On the Sorgues side, following the “presentation of annual accounts different from the accounting estimate”it was decided to “demotion to the Regional League championship as a precaution for presentation of annual accounts different from the accounting estimate”.
