French Basketball is in mourning. This Monday, November 18, the French Basketball Federation announced in a press release published on its website the disappearance of Nyedzi Kpokpoya, “died accidentally” at the age of only 47 in Marseille, where she had lived for several years. The circumstances of the sudden death of the former athlete are not yet known. “To his family and loved ones, the FFBB sends its most sincere condolences”, we can read in the tribute paid to Nyedzi Kpokpoya.
Nyedzi Kpokpoya had 21 caps for the French team
A native of Saint-Brieuc, Nyedzi Kpokpoya trained at INSEP. In 1994, she joined US Valenciennes Olympic, with whom she participated in the Euroleague Final Four. During her career, the 1m87 interior player played for several women's first division teams, such as Rennes, Villeneuve d'Ascq and Aix-en-Provence, where she reached the final of the French championship. Thanks to the level of play she offered, she wore the French team jersey 21 times between 1994 and 1996. With the Blues, she had a total of 136 points scored. In 2005, she retired after a final experience in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.

In addition to his basketball career, Nyedzi Kpokpoya studies business law. She also obtained an MBA from EDHEC Business School in Lille. After her career, she moved to a consulting firm specializing in finance, located in London. In 2014, she published a book entitled Bounce “in which it transposes sporting concepts to everyday business situations”, specifies the FFBB. Nyedzi Kpokpoya should have celebrated her 48th birthday on December 3.
