Nine people were arrested in Manchester after celebrating Hitler’s birthday with Nazi objects. Searches have made it possible to seize weapons and suspicious equipment.
Nine people were arrested in England as part of an investigation into a group suspected of having celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday with old Nazi objects in a Manchester pub, the local police said.
The suspects were arrested Wednesday morning suspected of offenses to the law on public order, and in particular the article which relates to the display of threatening, abusive or insulting content, intended to stir up racial hatred, according to the police.
After a vast investigation, the agents searched several addresses in various districts of Manchester and found replicas of firearms, weapons, including swords, and nazi objects and materials.
Local police acted in collaboration with the counter-terrorism units, which have made it possible to identify the seized equipment.
A demining team was also deployed after the discovery of an object suspected of being a grenade. It turned out that it was a false and any risk was dismissed.
Several places were still shown when the police continued searches on Wednesday evening.
“It is important that all the tracks are explored to determine the extent of the violations committed. Although we are at the preliminary stages of the survey, we believe that there is no risk for the general public”communicated the investigator Steph Parker.
“This group had a deep fascination for ideas which as we know are disturbing for the inhabitants of the Grand Manchester”he continued, adding that public security remains the priority of the investigation.
