Nouakchott, May 5, 2025 – The Islamic Republic of Mauritania welcomes the official support provided by the Republic of Benin to the candidacy of Dr. Sidi Ould Tah to the presidency of the Development Bank (BAD).

This support was announced at the end of an audience granted today by His Excellency Mohamed Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, to a high -level Beninese delegation. Conducted by the Minister of State responsible for the coordination of government action and development, Mr. Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, and by the Minister of State for the Economy and Finance, Mr. Romuald Wadagni, the Beninese delegation was carrying a personal message from President Patrice Talon to his Mauritanian counterpart.

The meeting was held in the presence of the Minister Director of Cabinet of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha, and the Mauritanian Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Sid’ahmed Ould Bough. At the end of the hearing, the Beninese delegation underlined the excellence of bilateral relations between Benin and Mauritania, before officially announcing Benin’s decision to support Dr. Sidi Ould Tah’s candidacy.

“Our brother Sidi Ould Tah has the profile and skills required to make the BAD the real development tool that the continent needs today. To this end, we provide him with our support and are ready to mobilize all of our partners around this candidacy, “said the Beninese delegation.

The Mauritanian government salutes this strong and significant mark of confidence in the Republic of Benin and its highest authorities. He sees it as recognition of the Pan -African course, commitment and vision of Dr Sidi Ould Tah at the service of a more united, more integrated and more sovereign Africa.

Dr. Sidi Ould Tah commented: “I am particularly proud of the support provided by the Republic of Benin, a country whose leadership and commitment to regional cooperation are widely recognized. This support strengthens my that our continent is ready to unite around a common vision for a stronger, more inclusive African bank of development, capable of meeting current challenges and fully freeing the potential of Africa. »»
