Huge shock for a German tourist and her husband, who were traveling to hiking in the Czech Republic. The two got into a violent thunderstorm in Bohemian Switzerland and looked for protection under trees. They were hit by lightning. The Czech mountain rescue service published a photo of the woman’s T-shirt, into which a hole had burned
The two were still lucky. They were found by another group of hiking between the towns of Tisa and Rájec, which they led to a nearby rest area and informed the emergency services. The alarmed mountain rescue service and the emergency services described the injured as “disoriented”.
“After a first examination, we found burns in the chest area for both tourists. On their clothes, lightning strikes could be clearly demonstrated on their clothes,” said the head of the regional mountain rescue service, Miroslav Račko. “The man complained, among other things, about severe pain in the face and visual disturbances in one eye,” continued Račko.
The two injuries were taken to the hospital.
