Paramount has just delivered the first trailer for NCIS : Tony & Zivanew derivative of the indestructible criminal franchise launched in 2003.
Two decades, five spin-offs and iron health: the license NCIS seems indestructible. Since 2003, the federal police series has spread its intrigues out of 22 seasons and has given birth to no less than five offspring: NCIS : Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS : Hawaii, NCIS : Sydney, and very recently NCIS : Originsdevoted to young years of Gibbs. Suffice to say that the franchise is alive, and Paramount does not intend to complete the beast.
To this family already well supplied with derivative series is now added NCIS : Tony & Zivaspin-off announced in 2024 and which is finally revealed through a first trailer. A return to the fan-service, putting Michael Weatherly and Pablo coast, alias Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David, iconic couple of the mother series on the front stage, for the mother, for An eventful road trip across Europe With their recurring victim girl.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva, from Paris to Prague
The trailer for the series is not really lace. Tony and Ziva, separated for years but united by a common daughter (the now teenager Tali, interpreted by Isla GIE), find themselves forced to collaborate again after their offspring was taken hostage by a criminal organization. Their journey trains them from Paris to Prague, with the backdrops, political plots and punchline exchanges supposed to revive the flame of nostalgia for early fans.
-The whole is like to one Before Sunset or a The Rose War under steroids, with bonus guns. Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, who had deserted the ship NCIS Respectively in 2016 and 2013, here reform their duo to capitalize on the dynamic love-repulsion which united the two characters in the main series, and which has never been really resolved.
The fact remains that the project, controlled by John McNamara (The Magicians), also wishes to break the codes of the franchise, with a soapping structure and extended narrative arcs, a rarity in the universe NCIS, Historically built on a structure in independent episodes (and a very weighty red thread). We will put this on the account of new consumption habits. But you can also see an admission, the one that even the most stainless franchises must mutate to survive in the large streaming circus.
In addition to the Tony/Ziva/Tali trio, we will find in NCIS : Tony & ZivaLara Rossi (Flesh and Bone) In the role of Sophie, the Tali nanny (incidentally ex-member of the airlocks) and Amicita Suman (Shadow and Bone) As Claudette, tech manager in the Dinozzo company. Maximilian Osinski (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will play Boris, Russian expatriate and IT pirate. Finally, James d’Arcy (Marvel’s Agent Carter) will be Henry, a laying of interpol specialist in the hunting for international bad guys.
NCIS : Tony & Ziva will be available in streaming on Paramount+ during the fall of 2025.
