The SDIS de la Réunion (SDIS 974) organized on Tuesday, April 15 on Tuesday, April 15, an official command ceremony at the Avirons fire and rescue center, marking the office of the Lieutenant of 1st class Éric Maillot as a new center chief, in the presence of local authorities, institutional partners and SDIS personnel.
This protocol and symbolic ceremony took place at the rescue center located Chemin 1 in Avirons. It was an opportunity to salute the commitment of Lieutenant Joseph Idmont, outgoing center manager, now retired after more than 40 years of service, including 14 spent at the head of this center. A solemn tribute was paid to him for his exemplarity, his humanity and his loyalty throughout his career.
Lieutenant Éric Maillot, 57, is an officer recognized for his rigor, experience and deep commitment. Former center manager at the Pond-Salé, he has over 35 years of service, including many years in the field and in positions of responsibility. Trainer, detachment chief in external missions, investigator in search of fire causes, or even specialist in rescue in aquatic environment, he embodies the versatility and professionalism of the firefighters of Reunion.
During this ceremony, several firefighters from the center were also decorated with the medal of honor for firefighters-Golden level, rewarding 30 years of service for the benefit of the population.
Through this command, the SDIS 974 reaffirms its desire to ensure continuity in the quality of the service rendered to the population and in the operational management of the centers.
