This Tuesday, May 6, bottles exploded on Chave boulevard near shops. Some residents are worried while a survey is underway.
The stupor still reigns near Boulevard Chave after the explosion of several soda bottles near the shops on Tuesday. According to information from BFM Marseille Provence, they contained aluminum and hydrochloric acid.
“We are afraid for everyone”
A Marseille trader, present during the detonation, remembers having “heard a huge noise”. “I was at the bottom of the workshop and I approached. I looked everywhere, I thought it was a gas leak or something like that,” he explains.
He says he was surprised and adds that now “there are old people who pass on the sidewalks and who are frightened. They wonder what will happen”. This concern is shared by several inhabitants. Usually the neighborhood remains quiet, but this incident shocked some residents.
“We are afraid for everyone because it can happen again,” says a passerby with BFM Marseille Provence.
-An open investigation
A little further, a resident wonders about the motivations of the authors of the facts: “Doing that with hydrochloric acid is that there is an intention, it is not possible otherwise. There is a criminal intention, this component is dangerous”, told BFM Marseille Provence, a resident.
This Tuesday, May 6, traffic was interrupted on Chave boulevard for several hours. Called for an indefinite leak, the firefighters discovered at least four plastic bottles from 50cl at 1 and a half liter.
For the time being, it is impossible to know exactly how many bottles have really exploded. The number has continued to evolve over the minutes. No one was injured and no material damage is to be deplored.
Contacted the town hall did not wish to express themselves on this subject. For his part, the police continue his investigation, but no track is favored at this stage.
