Trump added in statements to reporters at the White House that he had just heard of the escalation of hostilities in the past few hours.
He continued, “I hope the fighting between India and Pakistan will stop very quickly.”
What happened?
Several strong explosions were heard in different places in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir late on Tuesday evening, while India said it attacked a “terrorist infrastructure” in 9 sites.
For its part, Pakistan vowed to respond to these attacks.
Witnesses said that the electricity was cut off from Muzaffar Abad, the capital of the Pakistani Kashmir, after the explosions.
-“Shortly before, the Indian Armed Forces launched the” Sindor “operation, targeting the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, Jamo and Kashmir occupied by Pakistan, as terrorist attacks were being planned and carried out.”
“Our measures were concentrated, calculated and did not involve an escalation. No Pakistani military installations were targeted. India has shown a great deal of restraint in selecting goals and the method of implementation,” she added.
A Pakistani army spokesman said that India attacked Pakistan with missiles in three places, and that Pakistan would respond.
This development comes in light of the escalation of tension between the two nuclear neighbors in the wake of an attack on Hindu tourists in the Indian Kashmir last month.
India accused Pakistan of being behind the attack that killed 26 people, and vowed to respond. Pakistan denied any relationship with the attack and said it had intelligence information indicating that India was planning an attack.
