A very strong explosion and a big fear. A 12 -year -old child was injured on Sunday on the Sète flea market (Hérault) by the explosion of a plaster pomegranate, evokes Midi Libre. Thinking that it was a toy, his mother had bought it a few moments earlier for a euro.
This type of machine is used by soldiers during training. It is theoretically not possible to get it over the counter. Blue in color and garnished with plaster, these grenades contain an explosive in small quantities. If they are fortunately less devastating than other types of similar weapons, plaster grenades are not safe for their users.
Where did this pomegranate come from?
The little boy was injured in the hands, stomach and eyes. He was taken to the Sète hospital center for additional examinations. Just like her mother, also slightly touched by deflagration.
The police interviewed the seller. The latter explained to them that he was unaware that it was an explosive device and also thought that it was a toy. The police tried to understand how he had been able to get it.
