In the city center of Riom-ès-Montagnes (Cantal), the explosion occurred on the second floor of a building of three dwellings. Located above a Bistrot du Coeur Riomois, the occupant of the apartment where the explosion was performed violently projected on the ground. The octogenarian was first evacuated by his neighbors before being taken care of by the emergency services. Burned in the face and both arms, the retiree was transported to the Mauriac hospital center.
At the origin of the gas leak, The gendarmes suspect a 13 -kilo Butan bottle. It would have been poorly connected to the gas stove. Five other people had to be evacuated from the building during the intervention. All were able to return to their accommodation at the end of the day.
