On Saturday, a British tourist lost his life after falling from an observation platform of the Roman aqueduct of Ségovia, Spain. As reported by Guardianquoting the local press, the first elements suggest that he was sitting on the edge of a staircase leading to the point of observation when he fell back after losing his balance.
In a press release, the authorities of the Castille-León region said that the emergency services arrived on the spot tried to revive the 63-year-old man. The victim, holding a British passport, had arrived in Ségovia two days earlier in Ségovia, in the company of two other people. Probably built around 50 AD, the aqueduct which culminates more than 28 meters high, is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
