Samsung quantum box display technology is verified as cadmium without cadmium and receives SGS certification

The SGS confirm that the quantum boxing film is free from cadmium and in accordance with ROHS standards

Samsung Electronics Co. announced today that the quantum boxes (QD) used in its QD televisions has received certification of compliance with the restriction of certain dangerous substances (ROHS) and that the absence of cadmium has been verified by the Certification Institute, Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).[1]

SGS, whose headquarters are in Geneva, , is a leading test and certification organization which provides services allowing organizations to comply with rigorous quality and safety standards in various sectors, including electronic, food and the environment.

Samsung began to study the technology of quantum boxes in 2001, and its continuous commitment in research and investment has placed it at the edge of innovation on the world of screens.

After developing the quantum boxing material without cadmium in 2014, Samsung launched the following year of televisions with this technology. Since then, the company has been at the cutting edge of quantum boxes technology thanks to constant technological advances.

Samsung notably managed to create cadmium -free nanocrystals and obtained around 150 patents for this technology.
