National advisor Nicolas Walder wishes to wear green colors during the next complementary election to the Council of State. He announced his ambitions to Léman Bleu and the Tribune de Genève.
A first pambler left the wood, the day after the surprise resignation of the State Councilor Antonio Hodgers. Nicolas Walder, already considered as one of the favorites of the race, will offer his candidacy to activists from his party.
“My candidacy is based on the conviction that my experience, my relationships at different levels and my determination will be able to advance important files for Geneva. At the heart of my fight will be the desire to reconcile the Genevans and Genevans with the development of our canton, “he said.
Two Carougeois to the Council of State?
Former CICR delegate, Nicolas Walder was elected for the first time in 2007 to the Crown Council of Carouge. Four years later, he joined the Administrative Council. Between 2016 and 2020, he chaired the Geneva Greens and accesses the national council during the 2019 federal elections. If he was elected to the Council of State, he would join his former colleague at the town hall of Carouge, PLR Anne Hiltpold.
Other names could follow in the coming days, such as the national councilor Delphine Klopfenstein Broggini or the Onesian magistrate and president of the Maryam Yunus Ebener party.
A general meeting will designate the person responsible for defending the green seat in the Geneva government in the coming weeks. The parties have until June 23 to apply to the voting and elections department.
entry into office on October 30
For its part, the Chancellery has already set the dates of the complementary election. The first round will take place on Sunday September 28 and the possible second round will be held three weeks later, on October 19.
On October 30, an oath before the Grand Council will mark the entry according to that which will succeed Antonio Hodgers.
