“Shortly before 8 am, an emanation of acid from a technical installation in the Saint-Hubert workshops in Granges,” the Valais cantonal police said in a press release. Some 64 people were rescued and 18 of them were taken to hospitals for checks.

The intervention required the presence of the cantonal police, as well as the regional police of the cities of the center, the rescue center Sierre and that of Crans Montana, three ambulances and a doctor.

The Saint-Hubert Foundation is a social institution aimed at offering a professional and educational framework adapted to adults affected by a -to -medium degree handicap on the whole of the Valais. The workshops available to it in Granges are “essentially active in the production of mechanical parts and sets”, indicates the institution on its website.
