(Keystone-ATS) “A first convoy of fourteen caravans, from the view-of-Alpes (NE), arrived at midnight on this car park on Saturday evening. The city immediately filed a criminal complaint for violation of domicile with the prosecution, ”the municipal in charge of Pierre-Antoine Hildbrand said in Keystone-ATS on Monday.
An evacuation order was notified by municipal police officers in the morning of Sunday, with a period at Sunday noon to leave the premises. It was not respected. The expulsion procedure follows its course, said the city in a press release.
In the Sunday afternoon, a second convoy of 7 caravans from the same place settled at the Chavannes road on a private plot, near the bowling alley. Monday at 12:30 p.m., he left this place, in order to join the first convoy on the P+R of the Bourdonnette. He was prevented by the police.
Salty fines
“The city of Lausanne refuses this squatting,” continued Pierre-Antoine Hildbrand. “We are awaiting transformation into a criminal order of this situation by justice. This opens the way to a conviction, therefore to salty and dissuasive fines, “he said.
And to report that traveling people from France have moved concrete blocks to enter the field. In the early afternoon on Monday, seven caravans were still trying to force the passage by pulling these studs with towing strings.
These caravans from the view-of-Alpes had already been talked about in mid-April, when they had been blocked on the A9 motorway by the Valais cantonal police. Intercepted at Saint-Maurice, they had ended up turning back.
Already in 2023
“We are determined to enforce our right. The idea of obtaining advantages by force is unacceptable, all the more since the land will be used in June for the federal gymnastic celebration, “continued the municipal.
For the record, some 130 caravans had settled in the Bourdonnette relay car park in March 2023, without prior authorization. They had stayed there for several months.
A legal proceedings are also currently underway for the expulsion of the Travelers present on the Rama site in Montheron, north of Lausanne, due to the non-compliance with the conditions set by the city.
