Short -term rentals via the Airbnb reservation platform contribute to Swiss economic performance, but have little impact on the shortage of housing in cities. This is the conclusion to which the company reaches, which faces contrary political winds, in a new report.

In 2024, Airbnb recorded more than two million host arrivals in Switzerland, the company said on Tuesday. In total, the 30,000 hosts won more than 375 million francs. The resulting value creation amounts to more than a billion francscalculated Airbnb. This supports around 10,000 jobs, especially in the hotel industry.
At the same time, the company created in 2007 noted that The so -called commercial rentals occupied only a minimal part of the housing market. In Geneva, Zurich, Bern and Basel, the accommodation offered on the platform more than 90 days per year represented less than 0.5% of the total offer.
