Thanks to the of governance, Maroc Telecom adopts a more tone in dialogue with its employees, in particular retirees. Several signals addressed to unions suggest notable advances, with the key to improvements expected in terms of working conditions, social coverage and career prospects.

The of Mohamed Benchaaboun at the head of Telecom marks a significant development in the management of internal social relations. By deviating from a managerial culture often perceived as vertical, the president and chief executive officer multiplies the opening signals towards staff representatives. Since his appointment, several rounds of dialogue have been engaged with the unions, with the key to the advances expected in terms of working conditions, social coverage and career prospects.

In this logic of social re-engagement, recently initiated by the management, it also revised the conditions of access to the health transport service dedicated to the group’s retirees and their beneficiaries, spouses and with charge. A series of measures has been made in an internal note dated April 29, marking an inflection in the management of social benefits for former employees (see box).

The timing of this note owes nothing to chance. He was just a week after a major meeting in Casablanca between management and the main unions. The initiative is thus part of a larger strategy aimed at strengthening social cohesion within the group, through a series of measures intended to reconnect with former employees.

Business culture
This approach seeks to restore social dialogue without derogating from the characteristic discretion of the group. Ultimately, it is a question of reconnecting with a corporate culture where social stability was perceived as a lever of sustainable performance.

According to our sources, this probably prefigures other similar developments in the coming months, as the managerial team is structured around Benchaâboun, with particular attention to the social dimensions of the company.

In the ranks of staff, these signals, welcomed with caution, arouse concrete expectations. Employees hope, in particular, a revaluation of services in summer centers, deemed insufficient with regard to the standards of a group of this scale.

Other claims relate to free access to the operator’s telecoms offers, considered by some, as “a minimum of recognition”. These complaints contrast with an when employees could benefit from preferential conditions for the purchase of Morocco Telecom . An internal policy today over, but whose memory feeds, in hollow, aspirations for a more consistent improvement in social benefits.

A concrete gesture towards former employees

Acted in an internal note dated April 29, 2025, the overhaul of the health transport system within Morocco Telecom now applies to retirees and their beneficiaries. The reimbursement ceiling for ambulances costs is set at 20,000 dirhams per year, against the signing of debt recognition. Up to 48 annual interventions are covered, subject to medical justification.

For evacuations abroad, the ceiling is noted at 30,000 dirhams, conditioned by a certificate issued by a practitioner. The note also mentions administrative aid in the event of death abroad, as well as covered costs related to obtaining travel insurance certificates, within the of 92 dirhams per certificate.
