On Sunday, May 11 at 5 p.m., an emotional highlight will be held at the Leyme football stadium. On the initiative of the municipality, and in the presence of the departmental authorities, the stadium will officially take the name of Stade Robert Cayrol, in homage to the one who was the soul of football Leymois for more than 70 years.
Emblematic figure of local sport, Robert Cayrol, disappeared in December 2023, deeply marked the life of the town and his club, the Leyme-Molières sports hive. Creator of the club in 1947, he instilled a flawless passion and energy there, first as a player, then as a volunteer manager. Always available, efficient and dedicated, he accompanied generations of players and helps to bring amateur football to life with humility and competence.
His commitment was praised far beyond Leyme’s terrains. It was appointed best departmental leader in the 1995-1996 season, and its recognition even exceeded local borders, with fourth place in the regional ranking of managers.
Through this symbolic but strong gesture, the town wishes to anchor the memory of Robert Cayrol in the heart of the village and transmit its heritage to the young generations.
All the players, leaders, residents and friends of Robert Cayrol are invited to attend this name of name and the unveiling of the plaque bearing its name. This moment of memory and gratitude will conclude over a glass of friendship.
