Mohamed Fofana, Guinean political actor, finds himself at the center of a scandal resounding in Senegal. He is accused of having stolen 33 suitcases belonging to passengers at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass.

For the time being, we don’t know much about the respondent. The newspaper Observerwho revealed the case, presents the person concerned as a political leader and unhappy candidate for the 2020 presidential election in Guinea. But it turns out that a named Mohamed Fofana had not been a candidate for this election, which had allowed the President Alpha Condé to give himself a third term.

The Senegalese daily indicates that the facts date back to March 18, 2025. Two days earlier, the disappearance of two suitcases had been reported. Mohamed Fofana would have returned on the spot on the pretext of making a new reservation. It was at this moment, according to the same source, that he would have taken advantage of the bustle linked to the arrival of a flight to grably seize several luggage. Unfortunately for him, he will not succeed in this time.

Thanks to the video surveillance cameras, the authorities were able to identify him quickly and arrest. The Senegalese security survey has revealed that Mohamed Fofana would be involved in other similar cases. A search made in his hotel room in Dalifort made it possible to find a suitcase containing clothes, watches, jewelry and various valuables.

Investigators also discovered that the suspect has a clothing and cosmetics shop in Bignona, southern Senegal. The police have seized 19 suitcases containing personal effects identified in the name of passengers who have declared the loss of their luggage. In total, 33 suitcases containing clothes, shoes, computers and cosmetic products were recovered and transferred to the Mbour police station.

But despite the dependent elements, Mohamed Fofana rejects all the accusations and speaks of a “political cabal” aimed at harming his reputation. He was nevertheless placed in detention before being tried yesterday, Tuesday, April 15. The prosecutor requested a sentence of five years’ imprisonment against him. The verdict is expected for April 22.
