Thanks to a new training program in Senegal, the Public Order Regulatory Authority (Arcop) hopes to participate in strengthening transparency in this sector and promoting job creation for young people.
The Public Order Regulatory Authority (ARCOP) in Senegal will give certificates on Thursday to 133 young graduates trained as assistants in public procurement, APA learned this Wednesday.
This ceremony, which marks the end of a rigorous training program provided by the Public Order Regulatory Institute (IRCOP), will be an opportunity for Dr. Baye Samba Diop, director of regulation and legal affairs of the Arcop, to pronounce communication on the place of the private sector in public procurement in Senegal.
Faced with the high unemployment rate among young people, this initiative is part of a national strategy aimed at professionalizing public procurement management while promoting the professional integration of young graduates.
The beneficiaries followed a complete training covering the legal fundamentals, the planning, the drafting of tender files and the management of contracts, supplemented by an immersion internship in public structures.
According to the Arcop, these young assistants are now ready to integrate administrations, local authorities or private companies involved in public procurement.
With more than 3,000 billion FCFA engaged annually in public acquisitions in Senegal, the Arcop intends to make public procurement a transparent and effective economic lever by forming a new generation of experts.
This program, which has become a benchmark in West and Center Africa, also meets growing public governance issues on the continent in the face of the increase in infrastructure and public services needs.
