“I would like to announce, exclusively, that a record sale of 3.8 million barrels was made for the Sangomar oil field during the month of April,” said the minister who was expressed during a sharing and information workshop held in Mbour (west) with journalists on the governance of the extractive sector.
This workshop aims to share, with media professionals, information on the progress of petroleum, gas and mining projects and to take stock of flagship projects and programs in the Energies and Mines sector.
Regarding the Grand-Tortue Aymehim (GTA) project that Senegal shares with Mauritania, the minister explained that “the first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was fully loaded on April 15, 2025, with a total export volume of 163.259 m3 of LNG”.

“This is a decisive step for Senegal and Mauritania,” said Birame Soulèye Diop, adding that “the commissioning of the facilities continues for a rise in production”.
The exploitation of the GTA gas field, started on December 31, is operated by BP, with the American Kosmos Energy, the Société du petrole du Senegal and the Mauritanian hydrocarbon society.
As for the Gadiaga gas project, the Minister revealed that “in the first quarter of 2025, a total volume of 548,078 normal cubic meters (NM3) of natural gas was marketed”, stressing that “the monthly production of April was 219,809 nm3”.
