The Gabonese diplomat Régis Onanga Ndiaye is renewed as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Manager of the Diaspora, in the first government of the Fifth Gabonese Republic announced on Monday, May 5, 2025 by President Brice Oligui Nguéma.
Originally appointed in September 2023, in the transitional government put in place after the coup d’etat of August 30, Régis Onanga Ndiaye retains a strategic portfolio, a symbol of continuity in the country’s foreign policy.
58 years old, Michel Régis Onanga Mamadou Ndiaye was born on September 28, 1966 in Port-Gentil. Coming from a family of Senegalese origin having long served the French colonial administration, it carries a surname which reflects its roots of the country of Teranga. His personal and academic journey led him to Senegal, where he followed his schooling in Dakar and then in Kaolack in the 1970s. Between 1978 and 1982, he resides again, his father being assigned to the representation of Air Gabon in Dakar.
Former Ambassador of Gabon to Senegal from 2015 to 2023, Régis Onanga Ndiaye forged a solid reputation as a rigorous and experienced diplomat. Its renewal at the Head of Gabonese diplomacy is perceived as a strong signal in favor of stability and continuity, both regional and internationally.
In a government made up of 30 members, including 10 women, he is among the pillars of the new system set up by the Head of State to lead Gabon to a new institutional era.
