Senegal confirms its dynamics with solid performance to Sangomar, GTA and Gadiaga

The Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines published its monthly production monthly report for April 2025 on Monday, stressing major advances on the main operating sites of the country: Sangomar, GTA and Gadiaga. These results reflect the rise in the hydrocarbon sector, a strategic pillar of the economic and energy development of .

On the offshore field of Sangomar, oil production is maintained at a high level. During the month of April, four cargoes – identified under the SAN027 codes at SAN030 – were removed and marketed, representing a total volume of 3.8 million barrels. The ministry confirms that the annual production forecasts remain unchanged at 30.53 million barrels, testifying to a constant and controlled dynamic of this strategic site.

The Grand Turtle Gas Turtle Ahmeyim (GTA) project, shared with Mauritania, has taken a major stage with the loading, on April 15, of its very cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This volume of 163,259 m³, equivalent to 3.71 million MMBTU, marks the official of Senegal and Mauritania into the circle of LNG exporting countries. The progressive commissioning of the facilities continues to ensure a continuous rise in production of production in the coming months.

On the terrestrial site of Gadiaga, located in the Thiès region, the production of natural gas reached 548,078 nm³ during the first quarter of 2025, including 219,809 nm³ for the month of April alone. This activity, although more modest, contributes directly to the local energy supply, thus strengthening the energy autonomy of the country.

This report from the ministry illustrates the rise in energy projects regime in Senegal. Between the regularity of Sangomar, the innovation of GTA and the continuity of Gadiaga, the country confirms its desire to diversify its sources of income and to consolidate its energy sovereignty. These performances are also upon to strengthen national budgetary resources and support the transition to a more balanced energy mix.
