Pit-Senegal denounces the “social drifts” of the regime and calls for the mobilization of workers

In EXTENSO The declaration of the Secretariat of the Central Committee
1er May 2025

International Day of
This May 1, 2025 gives the Pit- the opportunity again to pay a vibrant tribute to all those whose heavy sacrifices have enabled appreciable social and democratic conquests for the of , whether in Senegal or elsewhere in the world.
This commemoration takes place in a complex and uncertain international context, with exacerbated contradictions and tensions between the imperialist powers arising, among other things, from the ferocious trade war triggered by President Trump, from the return of narrow nationalisms cultivated by the far -right populist forces, rebellious attacks against multilateralism, from the race for the superm.
Particular developments that are added to conflicts likely to degenerate into regional conflagration (Russian-Ukrainian war, genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza, threats against Iran, tragedy in the east of Congo with the support of Rwanda in the M23 …) in fact, a tilting of global geopolitics who global, which we can see that it would correspond to a barbaric regression of civilization.
Such a context leads the Pit-Senegal to proclaim, today more than yesterday, that the forces of peace and must strengthen their mobilization to stop this insane race towards generalized chaos.
To this end, all over the world, workers must be at the forefront of the fight.
In Senegal, May 1, 2025 is celebrated against the backdrop of concern and workers’ anxiety. Indeed, instead of honoring its commitments to the world of work, the regime, since its installation, has multiplied attacks against the fundamental of workers. Through a surprising and brutal policy of deflation, tens of thousands of public officials have been arbitrarily dismissed in a climate of unacceptable hatred and political revenge. people, recruited as part of the “Xeyu Ndaw Yi” , were the victims: they were returned without care or spare solution, as if they had no rights. Others, less young, have been removed from their workstation under the staggering reason for political affiliation to the former ruling party.
The Pit-Senegal is therefore welcoming the establishment of the national of workers dismissed to recover the rights manifestly trampled by the regime in place. Especially since large private companies – of which entire strategic segments are in crisis due to the government’s thoughtless decisions – as well as SMEs/SMIs weakened by tax burden, are implicitly encouraged to carry out the same layoffs, often in disregard of labor legislation. It should be added that this infernal spiral against the world of work aggravates an already very difficult social situation for populations, with the outbreak of the prices of the foodstuffs and services of basic necessity.
In the same impulse of offensive against acquired rights, the regime is in the aggression of fundamental freedoms: those of opinion, expression, press, peaceful forms of public protest. This attests, among other things, the many imprisonments for the crime of opinion and the severe and mean press measures of the press.
However, what is looming on the horizon is no less alarming. Indeed, everything suggests that the country will be plunged back into a policy of structural adjustment with, among other things, probable reductions in wages, the abolition of public subsidies, possible cuts in social budgets, and many other anti-social measures risking being imposed by the IMF during the loan negotiations to come …
The Senegalese are therefore in the process of experiencing their defending bodies, the emptiness of populist, fundamentally demagogic discourse, which were served to them to arouse and maintain a legitimate hope of real .
In any event, Pit-Sénégal affirms its total rejection of any approach aimed at bringing the weight of the crisis to the most vulnerable workers and popular strata. In this context, Pit-Sénégal denounces the inadmissible freezing of scholarships while hoping that this frost does not hide a will which does not say its name to delete them. The PIT reaffirms its commitment alongside the laborious masses to defeat the anti -social offensives of the government. The party welcomes the birth of the Foreign for the Defense of Labor which brings together all the country’s confederations and unions of the country, for the purpose of protecting jobs, social achievements and for respect for labor legislation and fundamental freedoms including union law.
For Pit-Sénégal, there cannot be a credible and viable social pact without concerning jobs and decent wages, strict compliance with labor legislation, without clear and precise perspectives of a permanent, frank, sincere and productive social dialogue. Likewise, the Pit considers that there can be no real economic recovery without the inner debt.
In total, on May 1, 2025, the Senegal independence and work party for the mobilization of workers. On the one hand, against all the anti-social and anti-economic drifts of the regime, against expensive life, against unemployment and in particular that of young people and, on the other hand, for strong measures of appeasement of the deleterious social and political climate which weakens national unity and cohesion.

He lives the 1er never!
Long live workers from Senegal and the world!
Long live international solidarity acting on workers and peoples!
