Sad news shakes the city of Podor. Oumar Seydou Tall, 18 years old and student in third class at Thierno Mountaga Ahmad Tall college, was found dead drowned in the Senegal river, two days after his disappearance.
According to the South daily site, his body was discovered Thursday, on the right bank of the river, in a sector located on the Mauritanian side, close to Luxeyba, just in front of the city of Podor. These are gardeners working near an orchard who spotted the floating body before alerting the authorities.
The firefighters of the 53rd fire and rescue company were then dispatched to the scene. On board a star, they recovered the body, before repatriating it to Podor for medical care at the Ahmadou Malick Gaye health center.
The drama occurred on Tuesday, after a course in the city’s scientific block. The young Oumar had decided to bathe in the river with his comrades, an activity that turned into a nightmare.
For the time being, the exact circumstances of the drowning are not yet elucidated. The local gendarmerie brigade has opened an investigation to shed light on this tragedy that plunges the school community and the inhabitants of Podor in the stir.
