After trying to different sports, Thibault turns to a career as an amateur footballer. When making a choice between becoming a professional footballer and journalist, the qualities have tipped the scales on one side. Here he is now within the editorial staff of 10 Sport, after a diploma obtained at the International Communication Institute in Paris.
Since he was appointed XV coach from France, Fabien Garthié has been able to bring back a fresh wind in French rugby. Blues are now one of the best world teams, the recent coronation is evidenced by the VI Nations tournament. But now Galthié has not only experienced successes since he was at the head of the XV of France. A failure is notably to be noted with Romain Ntamack.
-Two of the greatest talents in French rugby, Romain Ntamack and Matthieu Jalibert are in competition for the same position within the XV from France, namely that of half opening. There can therefore be only one happy elected official, but now a few years ago, Fabien Garthié had thought about the idea of associating the Toulouse and the Bordeaux. A project that had notably been entrusted to Laurent Labitbut this duo Ntamack-alibert was a complete failure.
“The idea was to have our best players on the field”
On paper, the association between Matthieu Jalibert et Romain Ntamack Could have been promising. A project envisaged by Fabien Garthié about which Laurent Labit explained for Olympic Midi : « There was a time when the “five-eighth”, the second opener, was fashionable. It was also an era when the XV of France had several major injured in the center. Fabien Galkié had therefore asked us to think about associating two players then at the top of their form and their rugby. The idea was to have our best players on the field ».
“It was not the right solution”
In the end, Matthieu Jalibert-Romain Ntamackit didn’t work. A failure about which Laurent Labit explained: ” It was not the right solution. International rugby has changed and you have to have a strong midfielder. On the other hand, today’s game leaders are more embodied by number 9, the opener and the rear than by the first center, as was the case a few years ago. Associating them was therefore not productive: we were not in the game and above all, we did not weigh enough in the middle of the field ».
